How can I get to the File menu? I want to be able to control the printer properties when printing out a web page.

Press the ALT key -- it will open the file menu.

To show it permanently, click the TOOLS menu and then click MENU BAR

Jason, the Menu bar is on permanently; it does not toggle on and off. Also, the Alt key changes nothing.

If you have it enabled permanently then, yes, the ALT key does nothing. The ALT key is how you display the menu bar temporarily (if not enabled permanently)

You asked how to get the FILE menu. The methods I provided work, yes? (Within the file menu are PRINT and PRINT PREVIEW.)

I know that the Print and Print Preview options are in the File menu. That's why I'm trying to enable it. There is a checkmark next to the Menu bar when I go to Tools but it does not appear at the top of my webpage. I cannot figure out how to get to it so that I can add/delete commands. (i.e., Selecting the Menu bar from the Tools menu does nothing.)

Until now...you never said anything about adding or deleting commands to/from the menu. You asked "How can I get to the File menu?"

What commands are you attempting to add/delete. Where are you trying to add them to/delete them from?

Sorry if I was not clear.

1. I cannot see the File menu and selecting the File menu from the Tools menu does nothing.

2. Once I get the File menu to display, I know how to add/delete menu options such as Print and Print Preview.

So, my problem is actually getting the File menu to display.

Okay, I guess I'll need to reinstall IE. Thanks so much for your feedback and patience.

Try running IE in "no add-ons" mode (Accessories, System Tools). You may have some incompatible add-on that is causing this behavior.

If it still doesn't display, the next step would be to restart the computer in Safe Mode with networking & test there. If the problem still exists, run system file checker.

I forgot about the no add-ons switch (shortcut should be on programs menu in Vista). Good Idea.

But do you think the SFC will/could fix this? I wasn't sure so I didn suggest it...I didn't want to have him try something just because.

SFC might not fix this, but it wouldn't do any harm. Actually though, I suspect that it's being caused by some add-on. If it is, it will be confirmed either by no add-ons or safe mode before we get that far.
