Hello all,

I have IE 6 with sp1 with all latest patches from Microsofts update center. When I try to launch IE, I immediatly get the Microsoft Error Report. Its the one that tells me to "Send Now" or not. Whether I send or not, it still won't open.

Here's what I've tried in order:
Reinstall IE6
Used the Repair option in the Add/Remove window
Downloaded IE 6 from MS website (via Netscape)
Downloaded IE 6 SP1 from MS website (again via netscape)
Sent the error report, in which it recommended I downloaded all patches from the update center.

I thought about trying to install 5.5, but I wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas.

Thanks

Apparently, 6.0's error reporting function is pretty sensitive to other things going on about the pc. Since it's tied in so closely with Windows Explorer, it could be balking at something running in the background.

From Start, Run, type in msconfig, go to the Startup tab. See anything unusual there?

Also, try going here and downloading SpyBot S&D:

This a great tool for ferreting out unwanted "riders" in your system. It's fairly self-explanatory. The msconfig run is really to eliminate possiblities, but I would be willing to bet that if you run SpyBot, you'll find you've got scumware attached to your pc and eliminating it will likely get some relief.

Post back and let us know...
