I am running Win 2000. I have checked and rechecked for Viruses and not finding any. While having Word, or Print shop open with Interent Explorer on dial-up I will eventually receive a message saying "Sorry but IE has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. Anything you have been working on may be lost." The phone connection is not dropping out so it is not that. What could be causing this. I ran Memtest86 to make sure my memory is ok (256 Mg). I downloaded IE 6 SP1 and tried to re-install it. It was real quick which tells me it say IE 6 on the computer and really didn't install. Any reasons why this keeps happening?

I am having the same problem with IE. However, my operating system is XP Pro. I ran HiJack This and some other programs to try and fix the problem but had no luck. I am also having a problem with opening additional IE windows. Sometimes they take 10 seconds or more to load??? Attached below is my log from HiJack This. If anyone out there has any ideas or sees something that needs to be fixed please respond to this post. Thank you in advance and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

I also is happening with a cable internet connection. Again any ideas and if I reload Win 2000 will it just happen again?

Sadly, IE doesn't have a real "re-install". Maybe you could repatch the OS with SP4.

SP's are the magical cure for browser issues, blue screens and bum knees.

I already have sp4 downloaded

I'm sure. But, reinstalling the SP sometimes fixes multiple issues. You could even stoop so low and go to windows update to see if there are any patches for IE.

OK, I will try to rerun sp4. I have already downloaded all updates for win 2000. I will try those again also
