When IE comes up at a site the complete page is displayed then freezes for 30-60 seconds then responds normally. While it is frozen all other windows are functional. I've read all other threads related to this topic and no solution has worked.

Any ideas out there.

Using IE 6 and OS is win98. System is standalone using cable connection to the net.

Check out the thread entitled "Internet Explorer Loads Slow from Task Bar". Near the bottom you will find a response dealing with "Tracker Class". That is likely to be your problem.
In short, open up Windows Explorer, and drill down to the folder 'C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files' and look for a file entitled "Tracker Class" and DELETE it.
That's all there is to it! Then restart Internet Explorer. You should be fine now.

See Dr. Roberts post for browser locking up problem. I had same problem every time i opened a new page IE 6 would freeze for 30secs-1min. I deleted TRACKER CLASS under Windows/downloaded program files/ and that seems to have fixed the problem..

Thanks DR Robert!!!!!!!!!

Thank you, this solution worked. What is 'TRACKER CLASS'? Where does it come from? What does it do? Is it advertising spywhere? Just curious.

Check out the thread entitled "Spyware - Where Does it Come From?" Basically, some site that you visited installed an instruction to send all of your surfing activity via a third party.

It is pretty sneaky, but is not considered a virus! The thread I pointed you to will link you to a web site with software that you can download to prevent this sort of thing.

My remaining question is whether this malady is inimical to IE, or do Netscape users suffer from this, as well?

I checked your thread on spyware. I've used 'Ad-Aware software' for awhile. It did not catch this problem at all.

When I was having this problem I loaded NETSCAPE and the problem was not there. This problem with 'TRACKER CLASS' seems to be only with IE.
