Running Windows XP, IE 6.0, don't know what happened, I open any e-mail account in the Browser, but when I click on a function I want to do, open, delete etc., the Broswer closes completely by itself. Is there a Repair Tool for IE 6.0?

When I run that program it says I need the IeExplorer CD, and I don't have that. No matter what site I go to, the page opens, but if I try to open/close or read e-mail or anything, IE 6.0 closes immediately, is there a site I can download IE 6.o for Windows XP Home Edition?

You could repair it but as smah suggested id run some spyware removing tools, my advice before attempting to fix internet explorer , get firefox off someone and put it on there.

Then if you can run this

Heres a couple of free spyware removers if you dont have id reccomend keeping on your system.

After running all of that I would reccomend downloading hijackthis from the link below. Extract to desktop or prefered folder. Open it choose do a system scan and save a logfile and post the logfile on here. Do not attempt to fix anything unless your sure of what your doing.

other than that your log appears clean. Ill get you a link for reinstalling. First go to add/remove programs than windows componets , remove internet explorer, restart then visit the link below on firefox.

I ran the setup, computer re-started, but no IE 6.0 Icon anywhere, what should I do now?

go to add/remove programs and see if it resintalled there, you might have to reinstall it there for the icons to show.

I found it .... but the bloody thing is still doing the same thing, IE closes when I try tasks, such as open/delete mail, or switch pages

Sounds like a 3rd party app doing it. When did this start? Also have you tried housecall scan with firefox yet?

Yes I ran it ........... just noticed the problem today

I ran Spy Bot again, it found problems, removed them, restarted, now it seems to be ok, thatnks so much for your help and expertise.

n/p, also advice on something you might want to download and try.

Trend Micro anti spyware, 30 day trial in case there some more stubborn files hiding in your system

Also id reccomend emptying temp folders

c, documents and settings, account name your on, local settings , temp (delete everything you can inside this folder)

c, documents and settings, any other account name also administrator, local, settings, temp(same as above)

c, winnt or windows, temp, (delete everything inside this folder as well)

I ran all the spy ware programs, the bloody browser is closing just like before, it's like the same original problem

It's gotten to the point I can't use IE 6.0. and currently rely on FireFox. Is there anything else I can do?

I'm unclear about a few things- Spybot fixed it, but now it's back? What did Spybot find? Also, please clarify exactly what action causes IE to close:
[ol]
[li]Clicking any link in the browser window?[/li]
[li]Clicking some menu item or toolbar button on the browser?[/li]
[li]Starting some entirely different application? (like an e-mail client)?[/li]
[/ol]

Spt Bot found some things in the Register, when I am logged into my "hotmail", when I try to delete, or switch to address book, it closes

So.... what "things" did Spybot find? Because apparently they're back.

And this only happens with links on the hotmail site? This problem doesn't occur at other web sites?

Sorry Mate, I did not save the result names, now that you mention it, yes it seems only Hotmail
