New to the forum...so I hope this is where i should post my problem...

My workplace uses WebAccess 2.1 to get our email and we have noticed that if you try and download attachments on pc's with IE 5.5 (any OS) the file is automatically saved in this format *.*[1]. Example setup.exe[1] instead of just setup.exe. This would not be a problem if the file would run in that format...but it will not. Also the file does not exist in any temp files or in the downloaded location before the save as command is executed.

This only happens with IE version 5.5 (any SP any OS).

Thanks for any help or ideas.

Have you tried right clicking on the attachment and then choose Save As?

We had that problem when users tried double clicking on the attachment to save it, when using IE 5.5

Still a no go...
same old same old...thanks for the idea though

i had looked at those TIDs yesterday...similar to the problem...but not the problem...the file extension doesn't disappear and the file is not of size zero...
thanks for the heads up tho...

Have you tried to download files from other sites? Does the *.*[1] still happen?

Patrick

no...the download issue only happens on the webaccess server...

and only on the webaccess 5.5.2.1 server no issues on our original 5.5 webaccess server...
