Hi All,

Kinda at our wits end here!

Installing IDS 7.31 TC2 on NT 4 SP6.

Seems to install OK and initialise via IECC. However, when trying to run any commands (onstat, ontape, etc) from the Command Line Utility an error is displayed:-
Warning - IDS no longer running

Any ideas?

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

did you take a look in the online log if any error is reported ??
Or is your INFORMIXSERVER and INFORMIXDIR not set correctly ?

regards
Uwe

Hi,

We need more circumstantial inputs.

To find more about the problem occured at database server instance, look at the message file located at a path gathered by this command:

findstr "MSGPATH" %INFORMIXDIR%\etc\%ONCONFIG%

It may tell more about problem it faced at the last shared memory initialization. Go at the end-of-file and search for the problem reported lines. Please post your findings. We would be able to diagnose the problem in better manner with these inputs.

You may also start verbose mode the database instance using the following syntax:

oninit -v

see how for the shared memory initialization process goes ahead.

Please post these outputs to this forum so that we can get back to you with more conclusive solutions.

Regards,
Shriyan

Thanks for the ideas.

INFORMIXSERVER,INFORMIXDIR,etc are all OK.

Confusingly the log files do not mention the warning message.
I do not have access to the log files now, but have logged call with IBM support as an installation problem.
Will let you know outcome for future ref.

Paul
