We have BE 8.6 3728 with IDR on a 70 GB DLT drive. We had to restore a Winnt 40 PDC through a 100 mb switched network. The PDC is just functioning as the PDC with no applications. So a full restore was just above 528MB (5012 files). The data transfer rate was about .2 mb/min and it took 36 hours over one weekend so very little network traffic.

How can we speed this up? My worst nightmare is having to backup one of our bigger servers. I could rebuild it faster.

Hi,

sorry that i cannot help you with this answer, but i have a question to you ;-)
Did you partition the drives manually or has the idr done this for you ?
By the way: we have the same Network und we also use be 8.6 with idr and a 70GB dlt drive. The speed we had to restore a bdc (for testing) remote over the network was about 10 minutes for 300mb.

The Drive was new and I did use the option during the IDR procedure to partition the drive manually.
