I need restore a backup of another server.
When I do this, a message display: id 54 and sql in 52...
and no restored.!
sorry my english...

Please post the whole error message. Also look in Windows Event Viewer logs (application and system) to see if there are any error messages that apply to this. Check the SQL Server Error Logs for messages.

How are you doing the restore? What commands are you using?

Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQLSTATE: 42000)

The backup taht you want to restore have an ID of sort (54) and the DB has 52, and use index NO binary.

Which version of SQL Server are you using?

And how are you doing the restore?

Nevermind....this deals with the SQL Collation settings. Refer to BOL for more information on SQL Collations.

Basically, you have a database from ServerA that you are trying to restore to ServerB. ServerA's collation is different from ServerB.

ServerA = 54. Dictionary order, case-insensitive, accent-insensitive, use with 1252 character set.

ServerB = 52. Dictionary order, case-insensitive, use with 1252 character set.

The difference between the two is how it handles accents.

You need to change the SQL Collation on ServerB to 54.
