I currently have a HP LaserJet 4 Plus attached to a HP JetDirect 300x printing through a Windows 2000 server. Is there a way to force a page out at the beginning of someone's print job that has their user name in big bold letters, then followed by their real print job? We get a lot of junk printing and would like to point some fingers at the people printing them, but we can't watch the printer at all times.

Has anyone ever seen or tried something like this?

Under the properties of the printer, there is a button for the seperator page. Depending on the type of printer, you can use:

pcl.sep - PCl printers - HP or clones
sysprint.sep - postscript printer

You can edit the files with notepad. Here are some options you can use on the page:

\B\M - prints double width block letters.

\D prints date

\N prints Username

\T prints time

Thanks!!

That answered my question to the tee!!
