Is there a visual difference between a 2.0 and a 1.1? I supposedly have a 2.0 port on my system and 3 1.1's and I can't see the difference. Is there and easy identifier, perhaps inside where the port connects or in the shape or ammount of contact or something?

No difference at eye level.
You have to know whether or not the hardware supports v2.0, and if or not the OS has the driver for it.
With XP, v2.0 support is, I think, included in SP1. As for hardware, most recent motherboards have v2.0-compliant chipsets.

Pascal.

No physical differance from the front panel but the USB2 standard did implement extra shielding (only noticable to the informed eye) internally.
You motherboards manual should state, when mixed standards are used, which ports they are.
You may also need to enable extra ports/USB2 ports in the bios.

Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.

Yes it is WinXP SP1 that gives v2.0 support, mobo manual best place to check for USB version unless of course the USB ports are on the case itself.
