Hi all,

I'm having difficulty in determining if this photo is a fake. A few things lead me to believe it is indeed a fake but I could use a few more experienced opinions. The left edge where the orange of the pumpkin merges with the gray of the scale looks to have been doctored. The scale lighting also seems to be coming from a different angle than that of the pumpkin. Is it just me or is this an obvious fake? Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the links to the image and its possible sources:

I think your observations are correct. In addition, the edge of the pumpkin looks much too sharp.

Does a fish have a waterproof head!? That is a fake!!!

Kind Regards

Not only does it look fake - you have the 'possible' sources. If there were 2 pumpkins, can you possibly imagine how the pumpkins could be have possibly been photographed from EXACTLY the same angle, height, etc. AND just by chance have EXACTLY the same markings on them...

Even without the sources, as kiddpete and MarcusStringer have pointed out, it isn't even a very good fake

Kind Regards
Duncan

Thanks very much for the replies. Whether or not the pumpkin is real is not in question as the grower shown in the sources is the same grower that has posted the pic of it on the scale. The question is if the picture of the pumpkin itself on the scale was real or not and I think you all have pretty much answered that question. Not only have you answered that question, the grower has as well.....claiming after the fact that the original weigh-in pictures are now stuck on a memory card with errors and cannot be retrieved and that this picture was just an example of what it looked like on the scale. Go figure!?!?

Anyway, thanks again for the replies. Very nice forum you all have here.

If you look at the 'pumpkin' on the scales, you can also see where the owners hands was removed from the other image.

It would be more believable if you had a set of wheels on that thing, and a team of mice pulling it!

Moe: It could have been a real ugly situation, but luckily I managed to shoot him in the spine.

Totally a fake. You can tell by the quality alone.

Believe it or not, the current world record for these giants is 1446 pounds. We move them with forklifts! Thanks again for all the info.

it's a genetically engineered pumpkin created during a global warming period with DNA altered pixels from a photoshop lookalike software, or it's just plain fake and a bad fake at that!!
