Is there a way to identify records that have been selected in a datasheet?

No. At leat not without a little work.

The easiest thing to do is add a field call, say, SELECTED.

If you're using Access 200 or greater, make a form of the table in datasheet view , and set the 'conditional formatting' of all controls so that when [SELECTED]=TRUE the controls background and foreground colors change.

Cheap and effective.

Sean is right, not in datasheet view. But if you created a tabular form, which looks very like a datasheet, you could. Any use?

A major issue I've come across today is multiple users selecting records in a single table. Some users will select the same record at the same time.

ARGH!!!

Solutions? Here's my ideas. Have you any more?

1) Copy the dataset to another table with an additional SELECTED field
2) Create a query for the form linking MAINTABLE to
SELECTED table which is SELECTED(Foreign_Key,UserName,selected).
Link the form to this query.
Add a checkbox to the detail of the form for SELECTED.selected
Proected the MAIN table fields from being changed.
This *MAY* allow the SELECTED table to be updated - haven't tried this yet.

Anyone got any better ideas?
