HI All,

we are upgrading prologix syetm to new avaya CM S8500,we need to re use the digital & Analaog extns cards from prologix to S8500 with G650 GW, how to check the these cards will work without any patch or firmware upgrade, if needs to upgrade the patch or firware it is very hard to do it or its easy

Thanks

The switches you are describing are designed to reuse your circuits packs. You may need to upgrade a few but your stations packs are fine. I still have some TN754s working behind our S8710's without any problems. The packs you need to work on will be all IP connect type packs. Data modules are going away and will be connected back to C-LAN packs, the TN 750's are being upgraded to Val Boards(but you can still use them) and of course you will be getting IPSI's and probably MedPro boards.

Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something.

Thanks a Lot mikeydidit,

Yes you writly said we are getting 1 IPSI2, 1 MEDpro & 2 CLAN card along with G650 GW, already we have 2 CLAN cards in old Prologix system.

we need do the patch/firmware upgrade for those 2 old clan card or just it will work with S8500/g650.

is there a way find out the cards are working ok

Thanks

It would best best to patch everything before hand. You will have enough to do during the cut over. Here is the procedures for upgrading the firmware on your C-Lans.

faq690-5977

If I remember correctly (please correct all If I am wrong) we installed our IPSI's in a empty slot in our cabinets before the actual cut and downloaded the newest firmware before the cut. We let them run a couple of weeks before the cut over and fired up the servers in their racks and let them run too.

Avaya has a minimum vintage list. Your business partner or Avaya should be able to provide you with a printout of your circuit packs and the minimum acceptable vintages that apply. The only real significant issues we seem to run into are TN742 analog packs. If the packs have a DP, AB, BP or some other suffix with a P at the end then they are firmware upgradeable. Almost all firmware upgradeable packs would be acceptable in your new system. The TN2302 HV3 (if you have any) does not support FAX/Modem pass through and I would suggest you replace these.
