Does anyone have experience with Promise IDE Raid cards? The card in question is their Ultra ATA 133 IDE Raid card.

The RAID BIOS is detecting the card, and we installed the drivers within Win2k Server. Then, within the RAID build utility we created the array, and used the image duplication tool, which completed successfully. The sytem boots correctly, and upon installation of the FastTrack PAM utility, both drives (both Western Digital 40gb drives) are detected within the utility, and are shown as functioning normally.

However, the mirror set is not appearing in the Windows Disk Management utility. Is this normal? Or is this not normal? Are there any known issues regarding this? We are only seeing an entry for the "C:" drive.

Thanks for any info.

You must upgrade to Dynamic Disk to setup software mirrored drives with Windows 2000. If it's hardware mirror, then you will need to load the RAID management tools that come with the card. The regular Disk Manager for Windows 2K won't see it.

Hi Dennis,

This is normal. The Promise card is handling the RAID functionality at the hardware level and hiding the administrative details from the OS. This is a good thing.

Hope that helps.
