I just got the VB6.0 project. When I opened the project, a few annoying windows keep poping up. They are pop up windows that prompt for a windows installer or empty installer. I think the previous developer created an installer using Empty Installer tamplate in Visual Studio Interdev IDE. The Installer created might have somehow linked to VB6.0 project I am working on.

Where to look for the link between my VB6.0 project and the installer? How to break the link, so those windows installer pop up window stop?

Thanks

vbdbcoder,

I have the same thing happen to me, and it is related to my antivirus (Checkpoint Zone Alarm) which was marking my VB projects as viruses (!) and quarantining them. For some reason, this caused VB6 to try to "reinstall" them, which is what I think you are describing. I've dumped Zone Alarm and this problem has gone away. Hope that helps.

Where did you look at to figure out your anti-virus software was the source?

I had the same problem just about a month ago and the reason was related with MS Office(in my case) and I fixed it with the MS Office CD by browsing to the installer location in the CDROM. I dont know what caused the error for you and if my reply will be helpful to you but, I still want to know if the error popups every time you start VB application. And most of all what is the name of the installer which the error asks you for? In my case, the installer was searching for something like: Pro11.msi.

If the error is asking for Pro11.msi, then only I would say it can be MS Office related.
