Hello All,

Right now our dept is transitioning from Corel>IDCS2, we're stuck on one thing right now. Exporting text as curves(outlines), I know you can do this through the type menu, but is there any setting, or script, to do it automatically when exporting to an .eps? I know it seems silly when it takes 2 seconds to do it before exporting, but we're mainly production so hundreds of files are being sent daily and this will ensure nothing goes wrong.

Also another quickie, is there anyway to export just what you've selected, this option shows up for other file export types but not eps. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Your first idea is a good idea, a single line, word, letter etc is easily missed when preparing artwork for export. Be careful though when selecting all on a page and converting text to paths, if your text box has a fill you can get unwanted results and sometimes text boxes still stay as text boxes and even say there is a font there even though there isn't. This can cause RIP problems later on.

Your second idea is also a good idea!! The company 'A Lowly Apprentice Production' (alap) created a plugin called InTools which features this and others. Unfortunately Quark bought out the company in 2005 and it doesn't look like they sell the plugin for InDesign anymore. I'm surprised Adobe or some other kind person didn't pick it up to at least provide support. just redirects to the Quark site and there is no mention of InDesign.

Sorry, I can't be more help

I started browsing & tracked down a couple of places selling the InTools plugin for CS & CS2 - ranging from $15US to 59Pounds. The latter has a demo version available for PC or Mac but I could only install it on InDesign CS - maybe CS2 is available once you buy it.
