We are going to be implementing NetBackup Operations Manager (NOM) in our (very large) environment. Would you please share opinions, caveats, issues, etc? I would be interested in any comments or information this fine group may have.

In addition, I know nothing about NOM and need too become the SME for our team. I would welcome any suggestions for rapidly coming up to speed on the product.

Thanks In Advance,
Dave...

Two words "Backup Reporter"....

We have been using NOM as a reporting tool, which it wasn't obviously designed for, we just lost our entire NOM database to corruption not too long ago. So I would suggest staying away from NOM for reporting purposes, if you want to use the NOM as a monitoring tool, then I would say go for it.

As a monitoring tool, it works well. It can give you a good look at your data protection enterprise and reports live. Use it for that, but not for reporting purposes.

FYI, I heard from someone within Symantec (can't remember who) that NOM is planned to be the only GUI sometime in the future, so it might behoove us all (physician heal thyself) to become familiar with NOM.
