I have dual boot machine and recently my Provider changed my ADSL modem replacing R -360 with PIRELLI VoIP Router Runtime Code Ver 1.05S-R- Link Type G 992,5 (ADSL 2+).
Now connection is obtained through DHCP.
On XP Pro SP3 all is O.K.
On Win 98 SE I also have regular Internet connection through IE Explorer and IP Adress 192.168.1.254.
What is missing is small doubled monitor icon in taskbar which should show that Intrnet connection is established. In my 98 SE 'Network Connection' there is no option for 'show icon in taskbar' like in XP
Can anyone help me how to sort this. Checked on Google but nothing found.
My NIC is D-Link DFE 530 TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter (Rev.C).
Before with old stuff when used WinPoet 2.51 s/w ,icon in taskbar was always shown- now with PIRELLI and DHCP -desapear

If i am thinking of the same thing , Windows 98 does not show the connected icons for network in the lower right like windows XP does. That feature did not appear until Windows ME/2000.

Thanks MrNick0483 for reply.
It's big MS minus if such an important function as Internet Connection (it's icon or other sort of sign) is not desplayed in the lower right Desktop corner when this feature is active.
