Hi All,

We have a single IPO406V2 3.2 with a PRI line externally and VCN30 internally with 56xx handsets. Our standard policy is to send the main company number as the OCLID on all calls. However, one of our DDIs is a customer support number on permanent unconditional forward to the mobile phone of the support guy. He is asking if it is possible to pass through the ICLID of people calling the support number as the outgoing CLID when the system calls his mobile - so he can tell who is calling. Any ideas?

Mobile twinning?
but is will only work on circuits that permit this feature
(UK lines are out, I dont know about elsewhere)

As IPGuru says, this is unlikely to be possible as you would be effectively spoofing your CLI. It would be up to your PRI provider. They will more than likely block this outgoing CLI when it's found not be a valid number on that circuit.

Actually, just thought. If you can upgrade to v4.1 next week, and the support guy has access to phone manager remotely, you can use telecommuter mode. This would show the CLI on phone manager when a call comes in.

I know I'm not explaining that very well..

>>and the support guy has access to phone manager remotely<<

Alas no. He's not usually near a PC. Thanks again though.

Do you have control of the caller id? Are you in the US? most of the LECs and CLECs let this work in the US. Or at least in the north east.

What do you mean by vendor?

Network provider or distributor?

I mean the people who sold us the system and, if this was an ideal world, support it. Our line is BT, but we buy through a partner company of the Phone/IT people. I hope that makes sense?

SS
Pass through the Calling Party Number. For example, to provide the incoming ICLID at the far end of a VoIP connection, a short code ? with telephone number .SS should be added to the IP line.

i
Both the S and SS characters can be followed by an i, that is Si and SSi. Doing this sets the calling party number plan to ISDN and number type to National. This may be required for some network providers.

Setup a shortcode for you support guy's number and play with the shortcodes until you find one that works. when it works the internal calls come out as the ext number on the caller id and forwarded calls will show original caller info. The one that usually works for me in my tiny corner of the country is NSS in the number field.

Hi Plotkiller,

That's what I've been doing - but am basically blundering in the dark. I've set up a user shortcode with the code ? and the number various combinations of SS. I'm wondering if the system short code that sets all outgoing CLID the same doesn't override it?

If your provider does not support it ( and european rules forbid passing through CLI ) then you are on a dead end street.
