My AV server is at 100% cpu all the time running icepack - what is it?

It only starts the first time i run sys centre. until then after a reboot it is not running.

The poor server is getting tired.

It is part of Symantec System Center as far as I know.

Have you figured this out yet? I have come across this problem on one of two installs.

It is part of the system centre and only starts when Norton goes to the symantec site to download updates.

If you restart the server and don't let it go to the Net for updates the app does not run.

Think it is something to do with the automated updater - last time it went out to symantec we got 1.8 million items pulled down in 24 hours.

I have installed NAV and after that I uninstalled it. IcePack.exe was left in Program Files\Quarantine\IcePack.exe
It was still registered as a Service in the registry, it started automatically at startup. As it was registered as a Service I could not stop it from Task Manager neither could delete it from the disk until I deleted it from the registry. When I installed ZoneAlarm(a software application firewall) I got that IcePack tried to connect to outside.
Anyway - delete it from registry and then from the folder.

It appears to be part of the quarantine agent. Stopping the Symantec Quarantine Agent service stops icepack.exe.

Icepack is the program used by Symantec quarentine software, it needs a SSL port trought the ISA server. The solution is in the Microsoft knowledge base article #283284.
