ICA Client running XP Pro - Client randomly freezes

G'day people,

Brand new Toshiba TE2000 notebook with Win XP Pro. Randomly (couple of times a day, sometimes not at all) when using ICA Client, the client notebook just freezes. Dead. System Deadlock, requiring cold boot. Upgrading to latest ver. of ICA client - no effect - still happening. Running all the latest Win XP patches. Only common thing is the ICA Client, it's always been running when the problem occurs. LAN or dialup makes no difference. Usually locks up on client mouse or keyboard input, or just switching to ICA screen.

Does anyone have any ideas please ?

I assume when you say upgrading to lates client you mean the one Citrix posted on 5/20/02? I have seen similar "lock-ups" when users were attempting to COPY\PASTE TO\FROM a Citrix session and also when they were attempting to take a screen shot of their Citrix session. Check your servers settings for clipboard mapping.If enabled try disabling and vice versa. Is this the only client workstation exhibiting this problem? What version of Citrix, including SP on the server side?

Not always copying and pasting when it occurs, although it has happened while doing that, also may have stuff on my local Win clipboard. I'll keep an eye on that.

Where exactly does one do this ? Do you mean the Clipboard Server service ? It's not running.

It's the only client workstation with the problem. Mine unfortunately :-( . Have 2 similarly configured machines that seem to be fine running the earlier version client.

Server OS - Metaframe 1.8 (build 663) SP3.

The clipboard mappings, along with many others are located on the server

Citrix Connection Configuration ---> ICA-TCP ---> Client Settings.

What protocols are installed on the laptop? What protocol are you using for your Citrix connections, please check in Program Neighborhood or the Published app.
 
Clean booted. Have just had 2 lock-ups. Only App running was the ICA Client (other than the usual XP stuff). I right clicked a file in Explorer and bang.

OK got it. Have now disabled Client Clipboard Mapping and Client Audio Mapping. I'll see if it makes a difference.

As far as protocols on the notebook. TCP/IP. That's it. Same for Citrix connection. Not running published app.
