Hi,

have just installed Websphere 4.0.1 on Windows NT. Have performed the steps to upgrade to JDBC2.0 etc.

However when it comes to starting the IBM WS AdminServer 4.0 from the services console, I keep getting hit with the error message:

Could not start the IBM WS AdminServer 4.0 service on \\XXX
Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.

Anyone seen this behaviour before....?

thanks,

Kin

Hi,

It appears that the Service of "IBM WS AdminServer 4.0" is not being created. Check your Services in "Administration Tools" for this service. If it is there then the path to the executable should be statedas something like:

C:\WebSphere\AppServer4\bin\adminservice.exe

Make sure that this path is actually right. Then click the logon tab and check that the user name. Logon to the machine as this user and again confirm that you can actually get to adminservice.exe.

If all goes well then under Services start the "IBM WS AdminServer 4.0" and post the exact contents of whatever error message you are getting.

Fearo

Hi,

FYI, a quick update -

When installing Websphere, an entry in the registry is:
DependencyOnService = Browser

However the client site I am at turns off Browser services,
hence the reason for my Error message.

Solution: have manually changed the Service to LanmanWorkstation instead, this service is running thankfully AND WebSphere works as desired.

Rgds,

Kinch
