I have a IBM Thinkpad with Windows XP/office XP on it 256MB of RAM, 10GB harddrive...with no sound. It doesn't work with or with out headphones or external speakers. I want to fix it so I can sell it. What do you think a good price would be if I can get the sound working or without sound?

What does the device manager report for audio devices? Are the drivers installed? According to IBM the drivers for the audio are included with XP.
There is a patch that is supposed to fix some problems this computer has with XP, here is the link:
