IBM Thinkpad AIX Password Recovery

Hi, i got this laptop from ebay, its an IBM thinkpad Power Series 800 with AIX v4. It has a german key layout, dont know whether that has anything to do with this.

I cant access anything as i dont know any passwords or usernames, so i was wondering if there are any backdoor passwords or crackers that will allow me to gain access into the main AIX operating system.

Whilst i have searched these boards, i have failed to find an answer, so any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance..

Hi,
you have to boot your Thinpad in service mode from installation CD, select maintanance and correct /etc/passwd for root user.

ah i see now.

The ebay user i bought from isnt answering emails, and i wasnt provided with an installation cd.

Is there anywhere i can get hold of one of these cd's, or are they specific to the version or computer?
