hi, see:

download "IBM eServer xSeries 330 (Type 8654) - Hardware Maintenance Manual"
from

at page 44 it says:
"When you install a video adapter in a PCI slot, the server BIOS automatically disables the integrated video controller. "

I belive this is true, and your machine goes in blue screen becouse video-adapter driver is not correct (the current is for Trio). A sure mode is to reinstall OS with the new card, or try to press F8 before login and install new driver.

IBM PC SERVER (8640-PM0)

i format my hardisks and try to reinstal windows 2000 with bootable cd with new 4mb pci vga card but after instalation on boot it will show me again error on blue screen and stop booting :(

You may want to go the the and download the latest BIOS version. The BIOS you have may have problems disabling the onboard video.

DEAR TEK-TIPS MEMBERS/USERS/EXPERTS,

I HAVE IBM PC SERVER 330 MODEL: (8640-PM0) WITH LATEST BIOS 28A .... I INSTALLED WINDOWS 2000 SERVER ON IT WITH BOOTABLE CD. IT HAS BUILT IN S3 TRIO64V+ CARD WHICH IS WORKING PROPERLY BUT WHEN I INSTALL ANOTHER 4MB ATI 3D RAGE IIC CARD OR TRIDENT 4MB CARD IN PCI EXPENSON SLOT 1 OR 2 THEN I GOT VGA CONFLICT ERROR IN DEVICE MANAGER. AND IT'S SHOWING YELLOW TAGS ON BOTH CARDS. AND IN VGA PROPERTIES/SETTINGS I GOT ONLY 16 COLORS DISPLAY :(

WHEN I CLICK ON ATI RAGE IIC CARD IN DEVICE MANAGER I SEE THIS ERROR.

Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update. (Code 35)
Click Troubleshooter to start the troubleshooter for this device.

AND WHEN I CLICK ON S3TRIO64V+ IN DEVICE MANAGER I SEE THIS ERROR.
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Click Troubleshooter to start the troubleshooter for this device.

I ALSO TRY DISABLE S3TRIO CARD BUT I STILL GOT SAME VGA CONFLICT :(...

I REALLY WANT TO INSTALL 4MB OR 8MB 3D PCI CARD IN MY IBM SERVER FOR GAMES.

I ALSO READ THIS IN IBM PC SERVER 330 HARDWARE MAINTANCE MANUAL THAT WHEN U INSTALL ANY OTHER VGA CARD IN IBM SERVER THEN BUILT IN VGA WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DISABLED. BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS CONFLICT NOT RESOLVING... AND I ALSO INSTALLED LATEST BIOS FROM IBM SITE WHICH IS 28A.

PLEASE HELP ME !!!

hi,
seeing firmware 28A notes, (00n9058.txt), I have seen that
a 2nd video adapter is supported (18a) and speaks about Matrox Millenium 2 . Sure this go on NT4 (same step) I don't know on NT5 (I belive Matrox M2 will go also in NT5)

Probably the adapters you have tried are too advanced for 28A fw. I belive you can find a Video card better than Trio
and not so sophysticated as those you have tried.

Just for curiosity: what have you changed to avoid blue screen at boot ?

bye
