IBM LTO Ultrium 2 and MS Server 2003 Backup Tool

Using an IBM server and IBM LTO 2 drive, no matter how the tape's overwrite protection tab is set, the inbuilt removable media management tool just says the tape is write protected, and I can't back up a thing.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I know it's not quite related, but I also have an IBM server and an IBM LTO 2 drive, and Arcserve says that it's in use by another application. Did you come across this ?

No, I didn't have that issue, but I did have endless issues using MSBackup.

The fix? Installed Veritas BE 10. It now works a treat.

Given this experience I would never touch MSBackup again if I had the choice.
