Hi Everyone,

I have this EDI product called Gentran Server for Windows NT ver 3.0.1 from Sterling Commerce. We also have a mailbox account at IBM-Advantis (VAN). I was wondering if any of you have a "Send/Receive" FTP script (using WSFTP Pro) for the same.

Your help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
S

Hi stembe,

I have the exact same question as you have posted. Did you receive/write any script to send/receive data to/from Advantis account.

I will reall appreciate your help. Thank You.

Hi ediwork,

No, I couldn't get WS_FTP to work with IBM/Advantis. I was having problems loading the SSL key & certificate provided by IBM. Neither will load into WS_FTP. It seems that WS_FTP does not support 128-bit key encryption that IBM requires. It only supports 40-bit key encryption. WS_FTP does have a 128-bit encryption package which is not available in the market (you will have to call-up ipswitch support to obtain it), but I don't think that it is going to work. I have tried that......

We finally ended up purchasing another FTP client called EasyAccess2000 from btrade.com. This is recommended by IBM.
I had absolutely no problems installing the key & certificate. I am able to FTP data back & forth between trading partners over an SSL connection without any problems.

Hope this helps...

Thanks,
S

Hi stembe,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, when I spoke with IBM, they mentioned this product from bTrade. Are you sending the data through ftp over the internet? My understanding is that if we are going to send it over the internet, then we need EasyAccess2000, else if, we are going to do IP over a leased line, we do not need it. Could you please verify if this is true or not.

Also, did you have to write scripts to move the data between Gentran and EasyAccess2000? How is the integration between these two products.

I will appreciate your response. Thank You.

Hi ediwork,

Yes, I am sending data using FTP over the internet. You are correct, if you are going over thru a leased line, you will not need EasyAccess2000.

As for the scripts to move data between EasyAccess2000 & Gentran, I am using Process Control (Exec_Program) to run EasyAccess2000 (You can execute EasyAccess2000 from the Windows command line). Once EDI data is received from IBM, it would go into a file. You can then either put the file in a 'Collection' folder for the Gentran File System mailbox to pick it up or run the GDW_Process_File command from Process Control.

Within EasyAccess2000, you can create FTP scripts very easily. Infact, if your network is IBM, EasyAccess2000 will come pre-configured with the IBM setup. Even otherwise, it is very easy to set it up.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
S
