IBM 7337 Tapeutil has slots that come up abnormal

My company has an IBM 7337 Digital Tape Library, & when I do a tapeutil, the slots come up abnormal. Here is what it looks like;

so does mine.. remove a tape and see what happens to the state. on mine , media present=abnormal.

it is really weird, when you remove the tape it will come up normal for a short period then it goes to abnormal. I tried taking the tapes out then doing an audit & all of the slots were normal, but as soon as I check in any tapes they went abnormal. strange.

Not to worry-- Mine's been like that since installation about a year ago. I run it totally automated from shell scripts and almost never have to touch it-- it even self-cleans!
