IA770 Intuity Audix Outcalling Issue

I turned up the outcalling feature on an S8300 running the IA770 application. I've got the IA770 outcalling when a message is received, but when it calls, the interface you get is supposed to let you log in and retrieve the message right there. What actually happens to me, is that I can't break the interface with touch tones. It keeps repeating (and I'm paraphrasing)This is Intuity Audix, you have a message, to retrieve the message put in your box number and press #. We try to put the information in, it interprets nothing, then repeats the statement asking you to log in.
 
I would look at how you're doing DTMF over IP from the PSTN.

Do your users only access voicemail and key in their passwords from inside the office? Can you call a pilot number from outside and be darn sure it isn't an issue with IA770 interpreting DTMF from the PSTN in any circumstance and truly narrow it down to the outcalling?
 
Yes, I've built my own box and tested, the pilot number to VM allows access by me (who is remote to the PBX)to my VM box. I also get the outcalling call from the VM system, but that call doesn't break it's greeting with DTMF tones, the pilot number does.... Definitely isolated to the outcalling, message retrieval.
 
Odd.

Just for kicks, I'd turn off everything in that IP (h.323?) sig group about direct media or out of band DTMF.

Presumably, a decent trace ought to show the digits hitting it, but maybe it just prefers them in (or out?) of band.

Without talking about IA770 patch levels, gateway firmware and CM load, I'd say try turning it off and on again and/or goof around with sig group options/switch link admin and see if you can find a mutually agreeable way to DTMF in all your circumstances
