The problem I'm having is that the screen showing node and TN never appears
if the phone already has a TN configured that is not valid for the switch
that it's currently on.

The TN that's currently programmed into the phone: 60-4
The TN I'd like to program into the phone: 61-6

Rather than seeing the TN and node screen, I get a screen showing: "Invalid
TN 60-4 Reason: Unequipped". This screen only has a reset key
that reboots the phone.

Every IP phone should show the Node & TN screen as part of it's boot up process. Sometimes the screen is not shown for very long, so patience is needed, and when the screen does appear, prompt action may be necessary.

Have you tried rebooting the phone, and entering the config menu?

you mean that i should reboot once and again the phone until Tn and node screen appears???

the TN will flash All the way at the end - its says "Starting in x number of seconds.." be ready after the count down to soft key Clear or Back Space..

i have just rebooted my phone and i can see the TN/node screen that appears too fast (much less than 1 second) as to make an action. Immediatly appears another screen: CS1000 Invalid TN 0.0.0.0 Reason: Unequipped. Is there a procedure to clear the ENTIRE i2004 phone configuration to default factory values?

Thanks bigindian, but the count down screen does't appear either. I know this is what should appear in normal conditions. This case is for a new unconfigured phone, Phones already registered are ok.

Look in the CS 1000 IP Line Fundamentals NTP for "Installer Password". It is the settings for that password which controls whether or not the Node/TN prompt is given for a 5 second period during restart.

Thank you very much gwebster!!! You are a god... Changes were succesful. Somebody should have been playing with the configuration on the Element Manager and changed the Installer Password to "Yes". It works....
