Has anybody had any problems with trying to get a phone to power up using i2004 phase 1 phone, the power dongle and a standard linksys 24 port gigabit POE switch?

What a question....

I can not get a phone to power up using the above variables. I have also tried to use a cisco POE switch but I am getting the same results. Dead phone.

the poe switch must support the legacy powering. 802.1af will not work

You'd need one of the PowerDsine splitters - big ugly white box that breaks out the POE for the older sets.

Found out that if your switch DOES NOT support legacy equipment the power splitter does not work. If your switch only supports 802.3af the i2004 PHASE 1 phone will not work even with the power splitter.

You can have the PoE with I200x Phase 0/1 only if you have 2 conditions:
- The Ethernet switch is a PoE legacy 802.3af
- You have a splitter with your IP Phone.
