I have a bcm450, release r6, that I have no problem getting i2004 phase 1 sets to register. It is the phase 2 sets that will not register. All are used sets from other locations. All are provisioned the same. Even connected directly to the bcm, the phase 2 sets don't want to play nice. Anyone run into such a problem? Thanks

There should be zero issues with the phase 2 sets. Have you checked the 802.1q/VLAN/IP settings on the phone as well as the S1 address and S1 port?

I had a problem once with these phones connecting on BCM.

Do you have the phone set to DHCP Partial or Yes? Try setting them again to either of these and then restarting.

This just gets more confusing. I have some phase 1 sets that will register and some that will not. None of the phase 2 sets will register. The phase 1 sets that work are used. The phase 1 sets that do not work have never been registered to any system. The phase 2 sets will register on the BCM50 that the were originally on but will not register to the 450.

You are most likely having firmware issues with the i2004 sets. Some of your sets have been upgraded, and others not.
There was a hack online a few years back that was used to upgrade old Phase 1 sets to work with the newer BCM units.
The package included the SolarWinds FTP server software, a ROM Code File and the hack.
The copy of the SolarWinds FTP in the package had a virus in it, so I had to delete it and get a fresh copy from the source.
Combined with the hack, this upgraded the firmware in the i2004 to the point where my BCM 200 (Release 3.7 software) would upgrade the firmware in the i2004.

Another method to upgrade Phase 1 sets was to attach them to a BCM with Releae 2 software.

The issue you are having with the Phase 2 sets is new to me. It could be that you need to find a BCM equipped with 3.7 software and try getting the sets on that system long enough for it to upgrade your firmware. I have used sets upgraded in this way on a BCM50 Release 2.0, and have had success getting the firmware to upgrade on the i2004 from that which the BCM 3.7 installed.

Keep in mind that you may have to de-register some existing sets on the BCM used for upgrade to allow your sets to register,
depending on how many (if any) IP seats are enabled on the BCM you choose to work with.
