I am having trouble updating the firmware with the older NTEX00BA I2004 phones. does anyone have an application to do this. Just connecting to a 3.6 machine isn't working.
i have heard of people using a 2.0 machine with the updated firmware or of using a laptop application with cross over.
Anyone know anything about this.. I will send a free IP phone and a nortel hard hat to the person who can get me past this..

I have heard of a procedure with a TFTP server. But I will double check and come back to you.

try on a machine less than 3.6

i know that phase 2 phones cannot be 'upgraded' on a 3.5 machine, even though the download says it is successful.

i'm guessing that might be the same case

If your f/w is older than 302b00, you have to set up a separate TFTP server to download the firmware for the 1st time (you can find free TFTP software to accomplish this):
In the BCM, create a file called TFTPSERVERADDRESS.TXT (make sure to use uppercase), which should contain a single line of text, which is the IP address of the TFTP server you set up. Place this file in the BCM's c:\program files\nortel networks\unistim terminal proxy server folder. Copy the I2004.rom and I2002.rom f/w files from the BCM to the TFTP server's default directory.
When your old phones attempt to register to the BCM's address, they will connect to the TFTP server vis this referral mecahnism. After they receive the update, they will not use this same mechanism.
It's been a long time since I've had to do this, but I kept my notes since it bailed me out of a heck of a jam at the time.
Good Luck.

Jeff

Jephph - Following your suggestion, I telnet into my BCM 200 and could not find the unistim terminal proxy server folder.
I also have the older i2004 phone I am trying to use on the BCM 200 3.6
Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks,

Andrew
