I have a customer that has a BCM50 3.0 and using all IP sets. They want to be able to take their phone how with them and plug into the internet and have their phone connect to their system with their extension number. HELP! How do I do this?

You'll need to set up a VPN for box for them to take along if they want to use a hard set. The better way would be for them to use a softphone (i2050) and use a VPN client on their laptop. They would launch the VPN at each new location, open the softphone, and done.

Thank You. That's what I thought. Someone was telling me the best way was to give them a static Public IP for the phone system out side of the firewall. I don't think that is a good idea myself.

That would probably work, but it wouldn't be secure. I believe you would have one-way audio as well since the set would be most likely located behind NAT unless each location where they used the sets had static public addresses as well.

Thanks everyone. I think I've talked them into using the 2050 softphone with their laptop since they are already using VPN for that.
