I would be very appreciative for any guidance and/or idea on how to fix this strange issue I'm having. Thanks in advance! We have an Avaya PBX Communication manager version 6.2.0.

I have one CO line within our trunk group that is showing in-service/active all of the time but does not ever show any connected ports. Also, occasionally it will go to a disconnected status and I need to busy it out and release to bring it back.

TRUNK GROUP STATUS
Member Port Service State Mtce Connected Ports
Busy
0022/001 02B0801 in-service/idle no
0022/002 02B0802 in-service/active no
0022/003 02B0803 in-service/idle no
0022/004 02B0804 in-service/idle no
0022/005 02B0805 in-service/idle no
0022/006 02B0806 in-service/idle no

I've run the test on it and get (which is because it's active - if I read the error message correctly):

TEST RESULTS
Port Mtce Name Alt. Name Test No. Result Error Code
02B0802 CO-TRK 0022/002 3 ABORT 1000
02B0802 CO-TRK 0022/002 36 PASS

However if I Busy it out to make it be out-of-service and then run the test, I see the below:

TEST RESULTS
Port Mtce Name Alt. Name Test No. Result Error Code
02B0802 CO-TRK 0022/002 3 PASS
02B0802 CO-TRK 0022/002 36 ABORT 1006

I had my wiring person go and re-punch down the ports with no success. We tried reversing the cables even but then it just stays at disconnected. So I'm not sure what else to try. We haven't changed anything on this trunk in years so I don't know why all of a sudden this is happening. Here is the configuration of it:

I blanked out the numbers above on purpose but they have valid digits in them on the PBX.

Do you have an ideas as to what I can try next to fix this or make it go back to idle like all the rest of the members?
Thanks!

try stat trunk 22/2 when it's happening. I used to see that when IGAR was being used... though I don't think that would be the case. I'd think it's just an analog problem.

Thanks kyle555 as that's a great idea but when I did the command, IGAR connection says no.

Disconnect the trunk from the PBX port and go on the carrier side with a butt set. Since it's a ground start trunk you should not get dial tone when you goo off hook until you touch a ground lead to one side of the line when you go off hook. Typically a carrier problem.

I agree most likely a carrier issue, test with a butt set as stated by 4amerAvaya
