I had a problem when using a new external hard drive. That was 3 weeks ago.
When I turned the HD On, Windows restarted and I had a black screen telling me that Windows\System32\System was missing or corrupted.
I had to reinstall. I did this 4 times.
This happened wether I plugged it in the USB1 or USB2 cards.
So, I decided to stop looking anyfurther for a solution to this problem and I exchanged the externel for an internal disk.
Since then, no problems.
But 15 minutes ago, I plugged a USB key.
Windows restarted and Spybot Tea Timer said that a value was added in Startup : KernelFaultCheck.
At least I did not get the black screen and did not have to reinstall.
My other USB devices
rinter , scanner,mouse work perfectly.
In clear, the problem happens only with external hard drives
Thanks for any help
