AND FAILED!!!! I got an 809 out of 849. I'm guessing that I failed by one or two questions. The test was a &#%ch and a half. I don't think I did too bad considering I had about 25 questions to go...with only 15 min left. I DID finish the exam. I had about 3 or 4 scenario questions(set passwords, bring up the line protocol), but they weren't too difficult. It was just time-consuming typing all the command lines. I had an EIGRP question which I didn't think was one of the Cisco testing objectives. The subnetting questions were a little tricky. They didn't ask the basic question of how many subnets or how many hosts. Know your subnetting inside and out!! In fact, most of the questions for basic material(bridges and switches) were worded very differently than the study material I used. But if you figure out what they expect you to know, then it shouldn't be too difficult to take an educated guess :). I guess I should say that you should be prepared to be pressed for time towards the end.

ME TOO,

First Cert I ever failed, this one wants you to know your CISCO!!!!!!!!

I sat this exam today and blew it with an ever so close 832 (needed an 849, so what was that - one or two questions). My exam was similar, but I did not feel to pressed for time (had about 15 minutes to spare, but without the ablity to go back it dosen't matter). I wrote out a nice subnet cross-table which really helped with all the subliminal subnet questions, ie this node can not connect to this node why? You got to check all the IP address to make sure they will all work together. The sims were pretty easy, basic stuff you should know. I think Todd Lammle's book is good enough, but find an additional source for WAN info (frame relay, ISDL) I got some really bizzare questions that I could not even begin to answer. Had a few IPX questions (my major weakness)that threw me for a loop and convert a number to Hex (had no idea what it was till I got home). And yea I didn't think EIGRP question were one of the Cisco testing objectives. Probably should know the very basics.

Areas

Bridging and Switching 60% Messed that royally
OSI 80%
Routed Protocols 80%
Routing Protocols 67% Not sure what happened there
WAN 50% I SUCK!!!!
Network managment 88%
Lan tech 80%
Cisco & Net basics 100%

So it's back to the book for me, no one to blame but myself. I already schedualed to take it again on Friday, so I guess I got 48 hours to cram. I don't work to much with the routers at work, but do have an okay lab set up at home. A 806, 2501, 1601 routers, and a 1912 switch, no sims for me, couldn't justify the money for one considering all I have at home. I am a enterprise admin and work with Micro$oft and OpenView mostly only very little with the routers.

But to HUNGURR, keep at it and we will both knock this out with just a little more effort!!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement, Steve.

Yeah, I plan to take it again within two weeks as well. I may very well get a second book to get a little more info on the WAN and VLAN stuff(had a lot of VLAN questions). LOL!!! I'm still going through my Todd Lammle book trying to figure out what I could have possibly missed!! I questions I thought I may have gotten wrong, I actually got right. Go figure!!

Later,
Sid

I am off to take the test today, not sure if I should have read this post or not!

I failed the 507 exam with a 838 a few weeks ago, so this should be interesting!

See ya this afternoon with good news!

Told you I would return with good news!

I passed 853.

607 is tougher by far!

Good luck all!
