I think I need to create a phantom TN for this scenario

Hi there,

We have an extension that doesn't have a phone. We are planning to give this extension to our afterhours number incase they need to contact us. This extension will then be forwarded to the appropriate cell phone number of the person who is on-call on the given week?

There was a phone with this extension before so it is already programmed in the system as a 1120E phone.

Would setting up a phantom be correct for this application?
 
prolly be your best bet. out the 1120E

add the phantom with said DID or DN
CLS UNR CFXA FTTU
FTR DCFW 12 9xxxxxxx or 91xxxxxxxxxx

whatever the number is obviously and your AC1 to get out...

You need a phone you can forward to different people at different times. Wouldn't it be easier to Call Forward a phone you could actually touch and feel?

You cannot touch and feel a Phantom because there is no hardware.

You could create a TN and use Remote Call Forward

aww Gene not that big a deal to weekly chg target! lol! IF I could spare an actual hard phone and hard forward it when needed, heck yeah....

truthfully, if I had Sym, it would be a CDN and I would script it out for weeks on end with the on call rotation....

And I'm certain On-Call rotation, once set, never changes after that :)

Go low tech, and just use a phone, call into the PM shift to change it. It will give them some glory.
