I just submitted my first FAQ for connecting a 56K US Robotics modem to a TTY port at 2400bps. I found, through the years, that this is the best speed to connect to a PBX with a modem. Any faster and you can't really see the output without backscrooling. I once set up a modem at 9600bps and after 100-200 lines or so of printing something like an NPA list, the speed would seem to slow down to around 300bps. 2400 is my speed of choice.

Let me know if you like the FAQ and give me your vote if you think I deserve it.

I have some more documents that I will be submitting to the FAQ area. These are all documents that I have written to help out my co-workers.

thank you sir, you are 100 percent on with that post although i perfer 19.2 because i can't run any faster, i can't see the cls marks on a 2616 at 300 so 1200 just makes me wait longer for the scroll key.. btw in procomm you can use a meta for scroll, so i hit alt1 to scroll instead of using the xvxvxvx mouse

The PBX can only put out on a TTY port the speed as slow as the slowest port programed on the switch. If you have a 1200 BPS port, A 9600 BPS port will output the first page of output at 9600 and then slow down to 1200. If you connect at a higher speed than the slowest on the switch, diable the slower speed ports and then it will output at the higher speed. If you dont believe it try it and you will see it work. If multi user is turned on, then the above is not true.

didn't know that but we run multi user on all the larger switches, thanks for the info.
