I sold a company on the idea of installing ISA Server 2000 as a firewall. They have one server running Windows 2000 Server and Exchange 5.5, and have about 30 users. There isn't very much load on the server now. They have a T1 line running to a Cisco Router for internet access that also connects to a router at a remote location. Windows 2000 Server is doing the DHCP work and NAT is implemented on the Cisco router. I also want to add a Snapgear SOHO+ box for VPN access and possibly connect to a remote site.
Initially I was going to install ISA on their main server with 2 NIC cards. However, the more I have looked into ISA, the more I have come to realize that it integrates very heavily with Window 2000 Server. I don't want to disturb their current setup because it is running great. I'm not sure if the fact they are running Exchange 5.5 on it would be an issue or not. I really don't want to approach them with the idea of adding another box with M$ Windows 2000 Server on it, unless it is absolutely necessary.
Do you think I can configure ISA on their main server without messing anything up? If so, are there any "gotchas" that I need to watch out for?
