I really need some help- IE6 won't open a second window...

This has been happening for a while, I was using IE5.5 and I have upgraded to IE6 (thinking that it will sort the problem) but no, it hasn't.
When I am in IE6 if I click on a link, it opens a second window, but the Address Bar is empty and nothing loads onto the page. I run Windows 98, I uninstalled a Pop-up software i had, but still run an ad-aware apps. Anyone knows the solution as it is driving me nuts. A million thanks in advance.

Done the first steps, running the RUN command with the different files names, but that did not work.

I have uninstalled AD-AWARE but still not working.

I tried to check the Registry files as indicated but I don't know how to do that. Run the REGEDIT command but how do you find the specific lines (sorry for my ignorance).

I repaired IE6 through Settings/Add-Remove Apps but not to prevail neither.

Run the Windows update from Microsoft but when i try to download the fix update it goes dead and nothing happens

One question, if I insert the Windows 98 CD and try to reinstall the whole thing would that help? Am i not going to mess up the rest of my computer apps?

Running 98 over the top is OK .

I use ie5.1sp2 with my 98 . It is the 1st version with the repair feature .

Free browser , which has a built in pop up stopper . ( don't add , About Blank , to your filter list )
Use very little resources ( No Add's ) & is as good as any other browser .
Intergrates quitely into your system , do not take over . You can still run your normal browser , if you wish .
