I am hoping someone can help me?

I have an Apple I pod Shuffle.

Recently I connected it to my laptop using a USB cable, hoping to transfer some songs.

I copied and pasted some songs I had loaded on my laptop.

The songs were showing as being on the I pod (as in My Computer, External Device) yet when I turned on the I pod I could not hear them.

Any ideas?

iPods (all iPods) are linked to Apple's Itunes software. You can't just transfer files like a regular USB drive to it.

Itunes needs to sync the Ipod so it can play the songs.

Alternatively there are some third party apps that do the same as Itunes, I haven't tried any of them so can't recommend any, but a quick Google should list some.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

It has been my past experience you can save songs directly to an Ipod but it isn't as easy as one might think, as the songs are stored in a group of hidden folders on the Ipod. This way you can bypass itunes if so desired, I know it's a software some people dread using.

These hidden folders have been stored in the music folder of the ipod, if you search for hidden files and folders you should be able to find them and save your music there.

Hope this works out,

Hi

For what it is worth I convert all my IToons songs to MP3 and save them in a different folder than the originals.

This makes it much easier to play them in other applications etc.

I use a program called Sound Taxi to convert them, then you can use whatever music player you want.
