Backups appear to be working ok, however when I attempted to do a test restore I got the following message:
storage device "seagate 1 " reported an error on a request to seek a logical media address.

Error reported:
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

Any help ideas

Yes it will backup ok in between trying to restore so the device itself is working (well for backups at least)

Thanks anyway

Check the "all logs entries" from the gui and see if it gives you more details. It sounds like a read error, possibly due to blocksize. You may also want to check the micro code for the tape drive. Be warned however, if you update firmware you may not be able to restore from the tape that was created when the firmware was at a lower version. But if you are in the test stage, this may be a viable fix.

Thanks Kyle, I updated firmware as suggested test backup and restore both worked fine. Thanks for the advice
