Alright, I'll start with my specs.
ECS Motherboard (forget the exact specs)
p4 1.7 433 mhz fsb
windows 2000 pro.

Alright, here's the problem I am having. I just got a new cd-rw (optorite 16X) and I can get the bios to recognize it, my computer sees it but it does not show up in the device manager. And everytime I try to read a cd it says "I/O Device Error" Now the company is not very helpful at all and they don't even have drivers for the damn thing.
Now, I have done everything I could possibly think of and it's giving me the same thing. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Please post asap (need to get something burned for work before thursday) thanks.

Hi Mike:

That's weird, I just posted to the other thread saying you should make this post and like magic it's here:
You infer that optorite has a website...do they offer any firmware upgrades from their download section?
Probably until and unless your BIOS sees it you'll have the problem.
Jumpered and cabled checked and double-checked?
The BIOS, of course, should also auto-detect it.
Perhaps flashing the firmware is your answer.

The bios does recognize it. So does explorer. They do have firmware updates but I don't think any of them are for windows 2000 and they say the burner supports w2k.

I'm going to try the firmware and hopefully it works.

Thanks for the help.
