I need to upgrade an existing MICS XC 4.1 with a R1 NVRAM cartridge to MICS XC 7.0. I have the upgrade tool for the MICS XC 7.0; I have the XC 7.0 software and the R2 NVRAM cartridge. I have read the upgrade your Norstar System of the installer guide, but at no time does it explain the step to change the R1 NVRAM to the R2 NVRAM.

Please help me understand, how do I upgrade the NVRAM and keep all my customer data

So help me out curlycord

I use the upgrade tool on the existing R1 NVRAM to upgrade to 6.1 ??, at what point do I install the R2 NVRAM and the 7.0 MICS Software, and keep the existing customer data.

The thing that confuses me is anything higher than 4.1 needs a R2 NVRAM and I thought all the customer data is stored on the existing R1 NVRAM

Thank you for your help

Data is on the MICS KSU

You can swap it out now but power down, swap NVRAM, power up, power down and do your upgrade
or

Upgrade to 7.0 is completed then you can swap out the NVRAM.

So I can power down the existing KSU, swop the NVRAM and power back up, and keep all the customer data, system id, PRI

That’s great, Thank you

I didn’t think I did a good job with my original post, so I made a 2nd one with more info, if you have time please check it out and let me know what you think.

Once again, Thank you Curlycord Man, You’re the best
