I need to know about OMR System

Hi

I worked on IBM Mainframes and my next project will be as a Programmer Analyst for DEC/VAX with COBOL Programming to support the OMR System. So, please anyone tell me what is OMR System and DEC/VAX Cobol Programming. IS DEC/VAX Cobol programming is different than ANSI Cobol.

Hi sreeni9999!

I once took that step myself and there are no big differences beteen DEC AND IBM mainframe COBOL, but one if you are writing interactiv applications. In DEC you may use DECFORMS for screen handeling and they are a bit tricky to understand.

OMR system could sand for Optical Mark Reading, that means reading manual markings at predefined positions.

We use a scantron system for processing grades at our school. First we print the forms up for each class. The instructors fill in the circles and then we scan them on the scantron and it makes a file that we upload to the mainframe. Don't know much about the specifics. A representative from scantron actually helped us set up the unit.

They may be looking more at a device that reads the mirc lines on produce or inventory. I worked for a company that made up scanable labels for their inventory items for ammunition. Never used one really. If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.
