i need to find out which conference cards is causing static on several phones when a call is placed on hold.
is there away to determine which con/tds cards is "connected" to the phones?

Start of by going in to LD 22 and prt your CEQU. It will show your your Conf/TDS loops. Smaller sites if you have multiple Contf/TDS loops you can disable in LD 34 and see if the problems go away. You can also run the test command to test the timeslots in LD 34.

thanks for info will do. Do the phones use the same con/tds card all the time or change?

No problem, I believe they are a shared resource per Net/Group on larger systems. (Someone correct me if I am wrong.)
Group 0 loops 0 through 28
Group 1 loops 32 trough 60
Group 2 loops 64 through 92
Group 3 Loops 96 through 124

and so on to group 7.

A trace (LD 80) on the phone when it is having the static will show all of the connections.

I just did a trace on the phone that is having static when I place them on hold. This is internal so ?
he phone calls me I place them on hold and they get MOH and loud static..
I don't know what is causing this as we have changed the 3904 and it is still happening. I have posted the trace below. Any help in what might cause this would great.

Are we sure it isn't the music that has the static? Music Broadcast does not use Conference to my knowledge. I might be wrong.

if this system has broadcast then it is not using the conf---have you dialed the access code to the Music on hold data block and verified that the music source is clear?

The Music is clear on other phones. I do not know if it uses a con/tds card. I am not sure on this. my maint. is not that good when it comes to con/tds. I am looking for something common and my boss thought it might be con/tds card. Thanks for your patients with me.

I did dial the ACOD for MOH and it is clear. Below is the information on the MOH in the system.
Does the look like it is using music broadcast or regular MOH?
RAN CON 120 LEFT 12 USED 108
MUS CON 300 LEFT 262 USED 38

TN 116 1 02 00 MBER 4
TN 184 0 15 00 MBER 5 MUSIC5

My BDCT is set to YES on the music route. So does that mean the system is using both types of MOH? or is it one or the other?

Conference music can be configured instead of broadcast by setting the BDCT prompt of the
music route to no.
Up to 29 simultaneous listeners can be supported by a single conference
loop with one music trunk assigned.

with broadcast the conf is not needed-when MOH is given on a multigroup switch-the TN in the group is used, so a set in group 0 or a trunk in rt 0 will use TN 4 0 0 3---a set or trunk in group 2 will use tn 84 0 9 6. I think you probably have a bad trk TN or connection on one of those 5 MOH connections. So if that set 72 0 8 10 put the call on hold, tn 84 0 9 6 was used as the MOH connection. There is a way of direct connecting using a maint. set---but if you are not familar with that---get a set in that group----loops 64-95 and dial the access code for the MOH---you will stay within your group and use that tn 84 0 9 6. The same procedure could be used for testing the other TN's---from sets in that network group.

thanks
kstaff22 i put a test set on each tn just to check the MOH at the card and sounded good but the tn's are looped together and i guess that could cause a problem. i will check with a phone in each group like you said.If i get lucky it might be a connection.
