I need Legato 7.1 to auto relabel tapes before it uses them.

The reasons I want to do this is complex so I will just explain what I need to do.

As I put tapes in the mail slot, I will label them into the pool named "empty".

Now there are about 5 other pools that need tapes, I would like legato 7.1 for Solaris to relabel the "empty" tape into the new pool name such as "Servers" etc.

I need Legato to auto relabel the tapes to the appropriate pool

Also we are going from 7.1 to the latest version in January.

Simply enable "Auto Media Management" for the jukebox.

Please be aware that by default each tape will stay in the same pool it was labeled first. If you want to be flexible, you should enable these attributes for your pools:
- Recycle to other pools
- Recycle from other pools

So if I create a pool named "empty" that never gets anything backed up to it, it will be able to give to other pools.

I would enable recycle to other pools in the pool "empty".

This will not work as in this case, the media will never become "recyclable" as there will be no save set on the media. If you really want to do this, you must assign the volume the status recyclable right after you labeled it.

On the other hand this is not necessary. Auto Media Management will also label blank media, when needed.
