Can anyone please help we figure this out.. i've been trying for a while and i just can't figure it out..

this is the error I get at the end of the Log file

Drive and media information from media mount:
Robotic Library Name:
Drive Name: HP 1
Slot: 0
Media GUID: {0F93A1F2-81EA-4673-9DC6-FE94F948CB66}
Media Label: HI000003
Overwrite Protection Time Left: None
Append Time Left: Infinite
Targeted Media Set Name: Media Set 1
The media provided to continue the backup already contains data
from one or more sets created during this operation.
The operation can not be continued

^ ^ ^ ^ ^

When i got that error.. i was using a brand new tape..

Any Ideas??? anything would be appreciated.. thanks

Are you running a scan after loading new media?
Otherwise the library will assume the previous written backup is still loaded.

I'm not sure.. this is the first time I've used BE
i'm changing the media every day...

this scan you talk about.. is there a way to run it automatically when you load the media??

thanks for your help.

When this happened to me it was because the tape filled up and not having another tape to use it tried to rewrite on the current tape.

I'll reduce the things that I'm backing up then to see if that solves the problem!

thanks for your help

What is happening is that the tape BE is writing to is full & BE is looking for another tape to continue the backup. The only tape it has found has already been used in the current backup job. This typically happens when you set the overwrite protection period to none. Try setting the period to at least a 1 day. You'll probably find that instead of failing the backup job will ask you to insert overwritable media.

Hope this helps

Thanks alot.. anythig will help.. i've been dealing with this issue for a while now..

I'll give it a shot and see what happens...

thanks..
